Silentnight© Mattresses - Official Partners
The world's famous Silentnight brands actually began as Clarke’s Mattresses Limited, named after founders Tom and Joan Clarke who started the company 63 years ago in 1946. As operations expanded, they moved from Skipton, North Yorkshire to Barnoldswick. It was not until 1951 that the name changed from Clarke’s to Silentnight Limited; by that time, about 4000 divan beds were being produced monthly.
It was 1986 when Silentnight launched the “Ultimate Spring System”; this was remarkable because this was the first innovation that the UK had seen in more than 30 years. It was further improved on, until the company saw fit to relaunch it in the late 1990s, as the patented Miracoil Spring System.
To date, Silentnight remains as one of the best selling brands in the UK and all over the world. Every 90 seconds, a Silentnight bed is being bought somewhere in the world. An estimated 1800 beds are made (and delivered to consumers!) every day.
